Hi everyone,
I have been asked quite a few times what we feed our dog, Sam. To give some history to this we have a 2 year old miniature schnauzer who has alergies to the brands of dog food that we tried when we first got him. So, I did some research and came up with the following which has worked well for 2 years. I don't think I would ever go back to commercial dog food, even if he didn't have allergies. Click below to view what I send out to those who want to know more about what we do.

Great article, Carol. I used to cook for my dog, much the same way. I was told it was harmful to her so quit. Guess we might start up again! Thanks for the info.

Thanks, Carol. My dog is a 17 year old rat terrior and beagle mix. We adopted her when her owner went into a nursing home and the dog stayed at home outside. She's been wonderful but is very skittish and our vet had to sedate her to get her toenails cut! I think our vet now would support us on cooking for Molly. I just have to get my act together and get it done! Thanks for your help. Keep the articles coming. So glad you started this site.

I've had some questions concerning dogs eating potatoes. Here's what I know from my research. Dogs should not have too much potassium. Potatoes and bananas both have quite a bit of potassium. Bananas have about half the amount of potassium as potatoes. So, here is how handle it. I use potatoes far less frequently than rice and oatmeal for Sam's carbs. I would say that I use potatoes probably once or twice a month only. Bananas, however, I do use frequently. Sam seems to be in great shape. There are so many fruits and veggies to pick from that, if you are concerned, you could easily avoid potatoes and still have a great variety to pick from.
